FAQ & Care Guide

Hair Extension FAQ

How long will my hand tied hair extensions last?

The hair can last 6-9 months depending on how you take care of it.  Hair extensions need to be treated with the highest quality products in order to maintain the shine and condition of the hair.  It is important to wash them properly and to use care when styling with heat, just like your natural hair.  The Hand-Tied method needs to be moved up every 6-10 weeks depending on how fast your hair grows.

How are the Hand-Tied extensions attached?

The hair is attached using a small invisible track system that is attached to your hair in rows distributing the weight evenly to prevent any damage to your natural hair.  The rows lay very flat to your head and with proper installation your hair extensions will be completely invisible. No one will be able to tell that you are wearing them.

Hair Extension Lengths:

You can get extensions in any length up to 22"!  We do a lot of volume extensions in a shoulder length to create a beautiful textured bob style as well as long Balayage looks.

Hair Extension Texture:

Available in straight, wavy, and curly textures, providing options for every hair type.

Hair Extension Colors:

The extensions come in a wide range of colors and are matched up with your hair. In addition, we glaze them along with your hair to get a perfect match.

Who is a candidate for hair extensions?

The ideal hair extension client has hair that is at least 3 inches long and wants to add length, thickness, texture or color. Adding high or low-lights, ombre, or novelty colors to extensions are a great way to prevent damage to a client's own natural hair.

How much does it cost to get hair extensions?

The price is determined during your free consultation. Because each client's hair is different, the price varies depending on the amount of hair needed to achieve a natural look.

Hair Extension Care Guide

Use the Right Shampoo & Conditioner

Using the right shampoo and conditioner is critical to the success of keeping your hair extensions healthy. We recommend using  Missio shampoo and conditioner depending on your hair type. The Unite 7 seconds leave-in spray is a must, as well as the Unite Nourishing Oil.

Shampoo your hair between the rows making sure not to scrub the hair but getting it gently worked in and thoroughly rinsed out to avoid any shampoo being left in your hair that could cause skin irritation.

Condition your hair from where the extensions start and down, using a wet brush to brush your hair gently in the shower starting from the bottom and working up until just below the rows will help distribute the conditioner and get any tangles out of your hair.

Brush Your Hair Once a Day

It's best to use a brush WITHOUT the small knobs on the end, since they can snag the rows. A Mason Pearson-style brush or a Denman brush works best. Brush your hair gently starting from the bottom and working your way to the top.

Make sure you brush through your hair at least once a day and check to keep the hair from getting tangled at the top of each row.

Use the Braid

If you have longer extensions, we suggest putting your hair in a soft braid at night to keep it from tangling while you're sleeping.  You should ALWAYS braid your hair before swimming or in high-wind situations to keep it from tangling.

Use Caution With Hot Tools

Think of your extensions as your own hair and be gentle with hot curling irons and smoothing irons.
